Today I received a handwritten letter from our dear friend and fellow administrator, The White Coyote.  There was a cover letter that shall remain confidential, and this 3 page letter which he asked me to post for everyone here:
----
[ed: Received Thursday March 15, 2008 via US Postal Mail from The White Coyote, transcribed by Ungodly]

Dear Friends and Fellow Heathens

First off, Belle and I are fine.  Although recent events have lead us down a very rough road, the Coyote and I are getting by.

I can't go in to too much detail, but in a nutshell, I was accused then cleared of a crime I did not commit.  I hate to use the term conspiracy because that implies planning and coordination but what actually occured was more of an opportunistic manipulation of the truth to solve what was already a deteriorating situation.  This "non-incident" was siezed upon by my soon to be ex-wife with the assistance of a venomous lawyer and my ex-landlord to destroy my business and ultimately my life.

Even though it was immediately shown that I did nothing illegal or immoral, my wife is refusing to listen to the truth and is using the situation as justification for a divorce.  So be it.

Right now Belle, Copper and I are living in my 16' camping trailer parked in a friends back yard. Cramped but comfortable we are doing as well as can be expected.

My wife closed my business without my knowledge, consent or permission so I am working at a friends shop out of town.

I am only making about half as much money as I was before, so I'm up to my ass in debt, but if my creditors want any money then they can go after my wifes considerable holdings.  That is actually what this divorce is all about anyway. Money, money, money.

Of course in my present situation I have no Internet, nor do I know if I will ever get online again.  At the very least, I will never be a "Traceable" entity again.

I have however, learned a great deal from this experience. I have learned that no matter how benign, innocent or simple a comment, e-mail, or web-site or photograph may seem to you, if given the right manipulation, suspicion, motive and willingness, a person can render your material into whatever twisted, sick, perverted "truths" they desire to make your life miserable.

I was fortunate that the prosecutor was able to see through the bullshit and I was ordered immediately released.  Unfortunately by then my wife had set the wheels in motion to close my shop and begin divorce proceedings.

Another thing I've learned is to abandon trust.  Trust of family, trust of friends, trust of authority and even trust of ones own heart.  All will betray you.

Well enough of my problems.  I'm sorry I wasn't able to get word to you guys earlier but I am trying to keep it as low a profile as possible and it seemed prudent to stay off the Internet.  Besides, my wife still has 90% of my stuff including my computers.  I may check in using the public library computers but it will be awhile.

Right now I am using snail mail to send this post to you, as it is the most secure method available to me.  I will be checking in regularly, but I won't actually be back on the forum for some time.

Steve knows how to get ahold of me, so if any of you really need to talk to me, send him a PM and we'll work something out.

I really miss you guys and I will be back, but right now things are just a bit touchy and I have to watch every move I make.  As my mother use to say, "Something is always stalking you."

Be well my friends and I'll talk to you soon.

Love,
The White Coyote

Sigh.  What a mess.  I’m sorry to hear this.  I had a feeling that something awful had happened in WC's life.  I hope he gets things sorted out soon.

Steve, please relay my sincerest best wishes to WC. I know I am nothing more to any of you than a faceless internet entity, but there is a real person behind this post, and I do think about the real people behind this forum. I am so sorry to hear that this mess has happened to WC, may it work out for the better.

Forcey,

I know that The White Coyote is very fond of you, as I am also.  I will relay your message.

How can anyone read the letter and keep from crying.  I can't. I think several of us felt something was wrong but had hoped it was just something small that needed to be taken care of.  I am so sorry to hear this as is everyone.  We all are more than just words and lines on a screen.

It is good to laugh with and at one another.
It is also good/right to cry with and for others.

It seems that bad things always happen to good people.

I am close to everyone here, I think, and I can only hope that things turn out well for WC. Without him, without this place, I probably wouldn't have learned as much as I have. Although I don't show my face often, or better yet my words, I spend time here every day, checking to see what's going on, and how people are. I may be absent until we get a new computer ( motherboard fried, but that's a different story for a different day.), but I hope the best for our Furry friends.

I honestly don't know what to say in situations like this.  I'm not the kind of friend who can offer reassuring words or advice when someone is going through rough times, and when I try, I usually end up making things a whole lot worse.  I'm not in the position to pretend that anything I say or do can help someone with their problems from afar by just my hollow words on a screen.

All I can say is that I hope things work out and that we can hear from him again.  It's good to know that he's okay.

“Atheism” is a term that should not even exist. Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make when in the presence of religious dogma.

Silentknight, you underestimate yourself.  You gave sincere and honest words.  To me those are always reassuring.

Wives can be angels or demons, but it sure seems they're more often the latter than the former, for some reason. Hope to see WC back soon.
