Has anyone be following the cracker story?
It seems some catholic university student made off with a cracker wafer during communion....to protest something or such.  The holy fathers etc were quite upset and threatened him or such.
PZ Meyers a professor of science from Minnesota or such with a large large blog following took up the cause or such.
He posted hate and threatening emails sent to him at his blog.  An email was traced to a woman whose husband actually sent the email or such.

PZ Meyers is asking to be sent some holy crackers so he can do something or such to them.

Then the Catholic League or such got very upset with PZ and wrote letters to his University asking that he be fired.

OR SUCH=you better read about it.  My summary might not be quite the truth...or such. snork_lach I don't want to hear about it if it's not.  snork_aber

So I have been reading the comments or such about it for days.

PZ Meyers was one of the speakers at TAM 6 recently, he will also be going on the same Galapagos cruise as my lovely husband and myself.  He is a really cool guy, and if the Catholic Church does not like him, then I submit it has been proven that he is cool.

I'll have a look at these links, thanks for posting them.

I read PZ's blog about the stupid cracker story and I agreed with all he said.  "It's only a fucking cracker!"

He posted hate and threatening emails sent to him at his blog.  An email was traced to a woman whose husband actually sent the email or such.

Can this husband and wife be legally held accountable for their threats?  I hope PZ posted their full names so they can be publicly embarrassed.

I read that the lady was fired from her job probably because of using a work computer to send email. But it was her mate that sent it.  Let that be a lesson to us to secure all our computers from our lovely husbands.  snork_lach

I particularly like to read the comments from the Dawkin's site.  A lot of those guys/gals come up with really good analysis etc. I learn so much from them. Sometimes a xian gets into the mix and things really get lit up.
I even gave up working the daily crossword puzzle to follow along.  Tounge

Quote
On Friday the Catholic League reported that Thomas E. Foley, a Virginia delegate to the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Minneapolis has asked that increased security be considered for the event in light of Myers’ threat to acquire and desecrate the Eucharist.

“I just felt security at the Republican National Convention ought to look at him and his followers,” Foley told CNA in a phone interview on Wednesday morning. He reported that he had not received an update about his request.

HUH? What does this have to do with the convention?  How can crumbling a cracker be a security threat?
As some have pointed out...eating the stuff is cannibalism.   snork_lach  And some have commented about the path jebus takes as he follows the path as a cracker through the digestive system.  snork_lach snork_lach

Since the Republican Party *is* The Party of Jesus, any threat to make fun of Jeebus, perhaps using Jesus Wafers, is a threat to the very survival of the Sanctity of the Party of Jesus.

Freedom of Speech is one thing, but there is a time and a place for everything, and a Party of Jesus, convention is no place for any kind of freedom!

As I said in the JREF topic about this.

For shame, to put a piece of Jesus into a plastic zipper bag to show his non-Catholic friend. Everyone knows the way to show Jesus the proper respect is to depict his bloody tortured nearly-naked body splayed out on that pagan Roman symbol of terror and execution. After you do that, you take pieces of his body, mash them into little bits, drench them in amylase and hydrochloric acid, squeeze them into a bolus of solid digestive residue, and flush them down the toilet.

It all makes sense, see?

Holy Shit Batman!!  All those years in Catholic school and it never once occurred to me that my poop might be sacramental 16 to 24 hours after chomping down on Jesus Wafers.  That's a brilliant insight.

Maybe a truly devout Catholic would preserve their sacred poo in order to use it in the garden, you could then raise Jeebus poo-rich vegetables and tomatoes!

Must create more satire!

I read the whole article, it was a master work.  The man is brilliant.  He has accomplished what I only dream about, pissing off bazillions of religiously deluded fools.

I just hope he can get forgiveness from Richard Dawkins Smile

In a vaguely related way, there was a post with many comments about the PZ Myers affair on the blog Skepchick, which is hosted here.

A person in Ecuador took great offense and has been using proxy servers all over the world to attack this webserver.  The same lunatic has threatened tiny, elderly James Randi with physical harm when we all travel to Ecuador in a few more weeks.  He better hope I am nowhere around if he raises his hand to harm Mr Randi.  Hell hath no fury like a pacifist in a rage.

The attacks on the server are just one lame-brained idiot being stoopit, I can forgive that. But anyone who tries to harm a tiny, elderly old person in my presence will certainly be rebuked harshly.

Mmm, Jesus Wafers!
