It was never going to happen anyway. Muslims make up only 2% of the population and probably only 10% of that two percent are fundamentalists - they never had a hope.The federal government has quickly moved to block any calls for sharia law in Australia.
In its submission to the parliamentary inquiry into the government's new multiculturalism policy, The Australian Federation of Islamic Councils has called for Muslims to be granted "legal pluralism".
Attorney-General Robert McClelland stomped on the request.
"There is no place for sharia law in Australian society and the government strongly rejects any proposal for its introduction," Mr McClelland told AAP.

In the USA the Oklahoma State Legislature are leading providers of ridiculous anti-Sharia law hysteria, with my pet project Sally Kern blazing new trails into uncharted territory of xenophobic racism and False News Network-inspired fear and loathing of a non-existent threat.
It is interesting that legislatures in our two great nations feel it is necessary to pass memoranda rejecting proposals that have not been made. I wonder why they have not yet taken a position on submitting to our alien overlords from planet Xenu?

Oklahoma isn't the only state. South Carolina is also making a move.
What's disturbing is that these idiots don't seem to know that sharia law is already illegal in the USA. It's disturbing because it shows that they don't understand the protections of the 1st Amendment.
AFAIK, there is no push for sharia law by any American Muslims. They know what it's like to be an oppressed minority.

The only pushing going on around Sharia law in the USA is propaganda designed to promote fear of it being pushed by the holy triumvirate of False News/Republican Party/Fundie Christians.
It is important to keep people in a constant state of fear so that the triumvirate can be seen to be rushing to their defense.
