Hi Folks. Some years ago in my misguided youth I joined an oriental new age religious movement. I was a member for around 15 years and became totally brainwashed into believing all kinds of absurdities. I finally escaped after a series of tragic events which forced me to look objectively at what this group was doing and what sort of person I had become. Looking back I now see that much of what this group and all religions tap into is a SUPPLY AND DEMAND situation. Many people feel a void and religions fill that void - supply and demand. I guess I'm a bit of an anti-religious campaigner these days and if you want to read some of my horrific yet informative experiences in religion you are welcome to visit my Escapethereligionindustry site. During those misguided 15 years I rose to become the second in command of large region so I feel I speak with some authority regarding the evil of religions. I've been there. A point I'm trying to make is: if you do have a void in your life becareful what you fill it with.
Happy New Year - my first post.

I found a copy of your book HERE
I've just skimmed through it, but will go back and read it again when I get more time.
In chapter 1 you mention your trip from Sydney to North Queensland in 1968.
I made the same trip in 1969 and got as far as Cairns before I went broke and headed back south in search of work.
Welcome the the forum, and thanks for the info about your cult. I had never heard of it before.

Hi there! Make yourself at home here. I can't stand New Age Bullshitology (as Ungodly appropriately calls it, lol!). Thank goodness you were able to free yourself from that cult!

Welcome New User Whose User Name Is Quite Long! I hope you won't mind if we just call you Bruce.
No, seriously though, it's great that you loaned and it would be better to hear some tales of your unusual experiences in the fairy tale business. Please tell us more when you are ready.

I live just outside Cairns. Glad you took a look at my book. The link you are using to get it leads to an older edition. Better to get it from HERE .

When the Monty Python crew were still at University they were in contact with quite a few Australian who were also at the University.
The Australian film director, Bruce Beresford, was becoming extremely well-known and his compatriots were always talking about him.
Eric Idle said (in a TV interview1) that whenever the Monty Python crew came across a group of Australians it was Bruce this, Bruce that...Bruce, Bruce Bruce...to the point where they decided that all Australians were named Bruce.
1: Cant find the interview on the net

Joe Bloe is correct, of course, that my Bruce reference was a nod to Monty Python.
