I was watching a video on another thread and was impressed by the sound of the commentator's voice, which reminded me of John Doremus. He was an American radio announcer who worked in the industry during the 1950s, 60s and beyond. His fans (including me) think that he had the best radio voice ever!

In America he had a three minute segment called "The Passing Parade" in which he told stories about little known historical figures and events. For some reason it never took off in the USA, but it was extremely popular in Australia, so when the series ended in America, Grace Gibson Productions hired Doremus to keep producing episodes for Australian audiences. By the time he died, he had presented more than 1500 episodes and even today the series is still being played on Aussie radio stations.

There is a sample episode at this site:

Anybody here remember John Doremus?

His voice does sound familiar to me. I am fairly sure I have listened to him before. He certainly has a wonderful voice for radio or narrating.
