I hope the policeman recovers. He was shot several times but still managed to get the gunman.

The police are all over the late scum's home. We will learn a lot more about this.
The police involved are literally heroes and should be treated as such.
It's horrible.
Weapons are the tools of violence;
all decent men detest them.
Weapons are the tools of fear;
a decent man will avoid them
except in the direst necessity
and, if compelled, will use them
only with the utmost restraint.

Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 by Islamist militants, Sikhs have sometimes been confused publicly with Muslims because of their turban headdress and beards.

On the morning after the tragedy in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, The 700 Club's Pat Robertson placed the blame for the shooting at the Sikh Temple on atheists and those who "hate God."
"...people who are atheists, they hate God, they hate the expression of God, and they are angry at the world, angry with themselves, angry with society and they take it out on innocent people who are worshiping God..."
According to The Christian Science Monitor, the alleged shooter has been identified as Wade Michael Page, a 40 year old Army veteran who the Southern Poverty Law Center claims was a one time leader of a racial supremacist band.
It is unclear what, if any, religious convictions Wade Michael Page might have had.
But Robertson was convinced that the act was committed by those who 'hate' God, regardless of who their target is this time.
"Whether it's a Sikh temple, or a Baptist church, or a Catholic church, or a Muslim mosque – whatever it is – I just abhor this kind of violence, and it's the kind of thing that we should do something about," Robertson said on The 700 Club.
However, Rajwant Singh, chairman of the Washington-based Sikh Council on Religion and Education, told the Associated Press he believes the attacks took place out of ignorance.
"This is something we have been fearing since 9/11, that this kind of incident will take place. It was a matter of time because there's so much ignorance and people confuse us (as) being members of Taliban or belonging to (Osama) bin Laden."
So what can you do to prevent such attacks? Robertson's advice is simple: "Well, you talk about the love of God and hope it has some impact

Pat Robertson thinks the Sikh temple shootings was committed by atheists and those who hate God. Robertson is a ridiculous, old, religious, nut case. He sees everything in black and white. There is no gray area in Robertson's field of vision. You're either God fearing or followers of Satan.
What Pat fails to realize is atheists don't hate God. How do you hate what doesn't exist? What atheists hate, at least this atheist, is the evil that is done in the name of God, by the followers of God.
This shooting was an act of ignorance, perpetrated by an ignorant, hate filled man. Wade Michael Page, was an ex army veteran with 911 tattoos and a white supremacist. Obviously he had a hatred for Muslims and wanted some revenge. His target was Muslims. In his supreme ignorance, stupidity and blind hate, he confused the innocent Sikhs with his hated enemy.
I have no doubt this man will be found to have a good Christian upbringing.

It's like me saying that Pat Robertson hates Santa Claus (well he doesn't believe in Santa so he must hate him).

Still, it is good that my atheism is getting some credit, and I hope Mr Robertson wets his pants in fear at the mere mention of atheists existing.
Talk about a chrome plated turd!

Good point.

I am deeply offended that Reverend Robertson chose to blame atheists instead of gays. I mean, OK, I'm still in the sinners crowd - there's a relief - but over the years I have come to expect Pat Robertson to blame me for any notorious calamity. I have been holding up my end of the bargain by being a homo and not STFU about it.
Don't worry, I'm sure Pat hasn't forgotten about you. I have no doubt you will be hearing from him soon on the subject.

Thanks, man. I see now you are right. We won't have to wait much longer, unfortunately, until some new tragedy for which I can be blamed.

"Wade Michael Page, the man identified as the gunman who killed six people in a Sikh temple near Milwaukee before police shot him dead, was a former U.S. Army serviceman and a member of several white-supremacist rock bands.
Page was identified by authorities yesterday as the slain suspect in the shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The 40-year- old's participation in bands with names that included Definite Hate drew the notice of groups that monitor extremist activity. Described as a "frustrated neo-Nazi," Page started a "racist white-power" band called End Apathy in 2005, according to the Montgomery, Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center.

Vigilantes in south Wales drove a hospital pediatrician out of her home after confusing her job title with the word "pedophile."
Police say vandals daubed the word "paedo" on the house of Yvette Cloete, a specialist at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
She is now staying with friends and is planning to move.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP) -- In the wake of one of the greatest tragedies to hit the Sikh community in North America, Southern Baptists have an unprecedented opportunity to reach out to their Sikh neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, says Aslam Masih, North American Mission Board's (NAMB) national coordinator for Muslim people groups and South Asians.

They really cannot see themselves as others do. They will be genuinely surprised when they start getting emails calling them "opportunistic bastards" and "vultures".
