Richard Dawkins: An atheist's call to arms

A speech Richard Dawkins gave at TED around 2002

Main Video

This is a speech Dawkins gave at TED around 2002. This speech, along with the writing of Blair Scott, is what finally made me become an atheist. It's a 30 minute speech, but I think it's worth it. Enjoy.

Good question, Joe. I could never claim that I was a strong believer. At best, I could have been called a deist. I was raised Catholic, but as my dad is disabled, we never went to church much, and it never took hold of me. So, no, not really. I found this video and Blair Scott, and it was just a "Duh" moment.Since then, I've watched things like Religious and The Atheist Experience, and I learn more about religion and atheism everyday. I don't have an iota of belief in any god, and I can't understand how anyone can. The idea is completely foreign to me now.

Was it easy for you to give up religion and declare yourself an atheist, or did you experience problems before making the break?
