I said I would post some of my poems, so here's one I just finished.
The March for Hypocrisy
Attention Mike Pence! Something needs to be said
You're banging a book that you've clearly not read
You take certain stories so literally
Ignoring the ones you pretend not to see
And there, my old friend, lies my problem with you
You say you're pro-life, but I know that's not true
The God you adore is a murderous prick
He spills enough blood to make anyone sick
In stories of carnage described in your book
The verses are there, if you'd bothered to look
If God is pro-life, would you care to explain
Why even the women and children are slain?
When God becomes jealous, he orders the death
Of people and infants and all that draws breath.
If Muslims had done this, I'm sure that you'd say,
"They're guilty of war crimes for acting this way!"
But wait, my old friend, there is much more to tell
Of life-or-death issues you discount as well
Your partisan colleagues, they seem to agree
That lifesaving treatments should never be free
The poor and infirm? Let them suffer and die.
I'm sure Jesus said you should turn a blind eye
And spurn the disabled, and leave them to rot--
The government needs all the money it's got
To spend on the things that you value much more
Like building up bombs and our weapons of war
You say you're not someone who taxes and spends
But all politicians pursue their own ends
Of warships and warplanes, and similar stuff
Your neoconservatives can't get enough
"We'll bomb the whole desert until the sand glows!
If innocents perish, who cares and who knows?
We have to stop ISIS no matter the cost
So don't lecture me on the lives that are lost!"
Obama killed innocents too, let's be fair
But if you're pro-life, I'd expect you to care.
And no, you don't care much for science or facts;
All data on climate was given the axe
The problem is one that your leader insists
Is naught but a hoax, "There's no way it exists!"
Though hide as you may in your safe little space
Reality tends to explode in your face.
The storms and the flooding will only get worse
Until it becomes far too late to reverse,
And then there's a fact even you can't avoid:
That people will die as their homes are destroyed
Though let's not neglect why we're having this talk.
To protest abortion, you went to the walk
To demonize women for making this choice,
"They kill their own offspring and then they rejoice,"
You think, but forget that they have feelings too
You never consider what they're going through
This isn't an easy decision to make
They have other children whose lives are at stake,
They struggle with poverty year after year,
So dying in childbirth, that's a real fear
It's clear that you gave little thought to your plan
Or what would occur if you passed such a ban
If life is as precious to you as you claim
Then we should ban smoking and guns all the same,
Plus dangerous things such as driving a car,
But no one's suggesting we go quite that far.
You say you're pro-life, but I've seen through your ruse,
You can't stand the thought that a woman can choose
To you, human beings have almost no worth
Don't say you're pro-life when you're really pro-birth.
