24 wives in 25 years: B.C. polygamy trial begins Published 3 hours ago 2017-04-18T22-43-18.733Z--640x360.jpg?w=

Canada’s polygamy laws are on trial for the first time since 1892, as polygamist Winston Blackmore is one of two men on trial for having multiple wives. As Reid Fiest reports, the judge will have to determine if the defence of religious freedom holds up in court. Watch video

I was mistaken.  The world is even stranger than I thought.

My first thought was how do you afford to keep 25 wives and 145 children; where does the money come from? Then I saw that he was a bishop in a church - and when he got excommunicated he started up his own church. [Scoundrel + Church = No Money Worries]

Whenever somebody wants to justify misbehavior, religious dogma makes a great excuse!

My thinking is at best he is irresponsible to have so many dependents, how can each of his 145 children know the love of a father?

His greed is so excessive only a religion could justify it.

That's the whole point in those communities.....multiple wives & children all taking care of each other's. Meanwhile dear ol' dad is screwing whatever he can marry to get her pregnant as fast as possible.

I am X-moron myself & my ancestral history has polygamy it its distant past. This lot has split from the mainstream morons, but they're all wacko as far as I'm concerned.

I've tried to look up std statistics, but can't find anything.

When ever the pious oppose marriage equality -- they always proclaim -- one man and one woman.  We are told that this is Biblical marriage.  That is -- unless they want something different.

It is amazing how the Bible -- The Buy Bull -- supports what ever crap they want it to support.

Dozens of marriage certificates, some referencing weddings taking place on the same day involving girls with the same last name, were entered as evidence Wednesday at the trial of two fundamentalist church leaders charged with polygamy in British Columbia.
