Please can't this be over soon. And I didn't think I'd ever see the day that I would be so overjoyed to even see Hillary.  And also at the point I'd just like a leader that at least acts like a grown-up person, who can string enough words together to make complete coherent sentences and doesn't seem hell bent on destroying Uhmerica.

It brings me small joy, to see our noble leader under attack by the FBI.  Sometimes, it's enough.

He'll get a pardon from Pence and then tell everyone he has been exonerated.

Maybe not.  Pence burns brightly with ambition.  He will remember all the crap Gerald Ford caught, for pardoning Nixon.  Besides, when Trump does go down -- all the self righteous evangelicals will want to demonstrate that their creed has not been contaminated by Trump's criminality.

I think the Republicans will hang Trump out to dry.  They have no honor and no loyalty.  They will not want to join him under the bus.

Will the False News Network attempt to foment armed insurrection when Mueller drops the hammer on Tweety?

They will get people worked up and frothing.  I don't think that their audience has the attention span for a real insurrection.

I'm starting with the presumption that our glorious leader is guilty -- and the investigation will continue.  Beyond that, I expect that  we will find out soon enough.

10 points for that one!

It-helps-to-have-perspective-when speaking of Empires falling.

The Greek empire fell.  Greece is still here.  Greek food and culture are still popular.

Rome fell.  Italy is still here.  People still speak Italian.  Italian food is still popular.

The Ottoman Empire fell.  Turkey is still with us.

The British Empire fell.  There will always be England.

The Soviet Union passed.  Russia is still a world power.

The Chinese government fell repeatedly over the centuries.  China is more powerful than ever on the world stage.  Who doesn't eat Chinese food?  Tai Chi is in vogue.

What then do we really mean when speaking of, the "fall of the American Empire"?  What would change?  English would still be a dominant language.  American music won't go away.  People would still eat fast food.  Other great empires have come and gone.  What ever that means.  Their peoples are still with us.  Language and culture endure.  What is it that we are so damn afraid of?  Change happens,  Change is just part of life.  People need to get a grip and take a few deep breaths.

Thanks for that perspective! I hadn’t thought of it that way before.

Also, the Ashanti (Ghana), Egypt, Ethiopia, Japan, the Khmer (Cambodia), Nubia (Sudan), and Persia (Iran) are still with us, and though the Incas, Mayans, and Zulus no longer command their successor states, their cultures are still strong.

I’m not so sure that fast food is a legacy to brag about, though. It would be like Italians bragging about their legacy of lead plumbing.

Good, bad, or otherwise -- fast food is part of our legacy.  Facing facts is the Atheist way.
