Alright then. The short version. People graduate from the Yeshivas, having studied mostly the religious texts. They have minimal literacy skills in English and Math -- know nothing of Science or History -- and have no skills or place in the job market. If they don't go on to become rabbis, they have nothing at all. Since their Hassidic communities vote as a block, the vote sucking whores of politicians, do nothing to impose standards.
Thanks for the info.
I feel sorry for the students who probably assume that they are educating themselves to high level, only to discover they have no real credentials at all.

It amounts to highly focused, vocational training for the clergy.
In fairness, how many high school students are being well trained for the real job market? Clerical jobs are gone. Cashier jobs are going. Warehouses are automating. Fast food is automating. A.I. is outperforming radiologists. The new self driving trucks and cars will displace millions. Para-legals can't compete with the new computer programs. Remember Book keepers? Accountants are in trouble. Large parking lots are being patrolled by robots.
I think most High School and College students are getting screwed. It's not like there are a lot of good choices. And so many ways to be wrong.

I can't say there was any similar problem with my 12 years of education in Catholic schools. It was generally believed Catholic schools provided superior education in the days of my youth. I think I did get a good secular education based on then current schools and what we knew back then.
