P.S. There exists photos of me smiling in church at my brother’s wedding. He married the church secretary a year and a half ago. I had to bite my tongue at all the obvious misogyny in the scripture readings and the priest’s exhortation to make the marriage a menage à trois with Jesus (not using those words).

I'm glad that you can rejoice at your brother's happiness.  God is nothing.  (In every sense of the word.) Your brother's love and happiness are important.  And you didn't lose your brother over religion.  This is good.  Your values are intact.
