Actually, excrement belongs in sewers.

I'm getting grumpy in my old age.

Yeah, grumpy seems to hit more often these days.

The really irritating part is -- it's the right wing that lectures endlessly about the Constitution.  Then they go forth and violate it.

Nothing ever seems to change for the better.

The problem, is that people don't learn from the past.  There was a time, when religion ran the show.  We call that time -- "The Dark Ages.".

No, they certainly don't learn. Some sort of crowd mentality maybe?

Think George Orwell's 1984.  History constantly changes -- and all evidence to the contrary, goes down the "memory hole".  The elite get the facts they want and reality be damned.

Like Trump.  What ever he says at the moment is true.  What he said in the past is forgotten.  Things like "Mexico will pay for the wall!"  And "Obama plays too much golf!"

Like the Pope, lecturing the world on morality.

The leaders declare the facts and history vanishes.

Miserable state of affairs.

It would stop if the voters were grounded in reality and could remember stuff.  Uh-oh.

We can't blame this one on religion.  A lot of people lack basic thinking skills.

Yeah, but religions don't want you to learn either.

Religions?  No.  A lot of people with poor critical thinking skills -- and a drug like dependence on authority.

Religions as such, don't want anything.  People follow bad ideas.  The ideas themselves have no agency.
