It has nothing to do with whether or not Trump, or any Republican candidate, actually believed in the faith he professed or the teachings of scripture. As the narrator points out, the evangelical movement has always been heavily tribalistic and more concerned about white nationalism, traditionalism, and nativism. Their only concern is that someone from their team gets in office. It's pure partisanship, having nothing to do with actual policy.
Regarding God choosing a president or superbowl winner, God technically approves of all human actions and decisions, because he never shows up to say no.
