Hi Folks

We arrived in Maui this afternoon with no problems, and our condo is fantastic.
We have a washer/dryer, full kitchen that was stocked with everything but food,
our own private balcony with an ocean view, and it's all really nice.

At sunset I sat out on the balcony and took a few photos.

I'll pray that a big tsunami won't strike while you're there!

While you're sipping mai tai's on the beach, be sure to think of us Coloradans, shivering in the 15 degree temps as snow goes down our backs and sticks in our hair. Brrrr. I'm jealous. :smt012 :smt003

. . . and don't forget about us Washingtonians up to our armpits in rainwater.

Did you go diving, Steve, or did you take those underwater pics from Reefdancer?

Those were taken when I was nice and dry inside Reefdancer.  My ears can't take the pressure just at the bottom of our swimming pool, and my breathing is already not so good, so I won't be going diving, although I'm certain I would love it.

Today we went on the Hana Highway drive around East Maui, it was a lot of driving on extremely marginal and narrow roads, but I got some of the best waterfall shots I've ever taken, and I was on a black sand beach that is literally black.  It's going to take me a few more hours to post-process, webify, and upload today's pictures, but man there are some good ones.

Today I climbed all the way to the top of a 10,000 foot tall volcano!
in a rental car

From the rim of the crater of Haleakala you can look down into the crater itself and see all sorts of colorful stuff, like this.

It was very cold and windy, but I got a few photos.

That looks suspiciously like the moon landscape. Do I smell a conspiracy here? Look for lunar lander tracks, I think we've all been duped!  CONSPIRACY!!

And what's that funny-shaped blob in the top right hand corner...? Oh, it's a mark on my monitor screen. I thought for a moment there it might be Jeebus or his Ma making one of their periodical visitations.

Yeah, I wonder if the face on Mars is Jesus playing a joke on us - he's back, but he's keeping it a secret.
