2Kings 19:35

And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they [were] all dead corpses.

Isaiah 37:36

Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they [were] all dead corpses.

I think these verses are kind of funny, because it sounds like it was the corpses that "arose early". Must've been a hell of a mess, though, with 185,000 dead bodies lying around!

This passage is odd for even more reasons. Shortly after this incident, when one would have thought faith in YHWH to defend his chosen people would have been at its strongest, Hezekiah died and his son Manasseh turns completely in the opposite direction, to a policy of appeasing Assyria. Hmmm...

I keep looking for that passage where God sets a bear on a bunch of kids and he eats them all. Anybody remember where the hell that is? My concordance doesn't show it.

Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they [were] all dead corpses.

2 Kings, Chapter 2
2:23. And he went up from thence to Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, little boys came out of the city and mocked him, saying: Go up, thou bald head, go up, thou bald head.
Ascendit autem inde Bethel cumque ascenderet per viam pueri parvi egressi sunt de civitate et inludebant ei dicentes ascende calve ascende calve

2:24. And looking back, he saw them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord: and there came forth two bears out of the forest, and tore of them, two and forty boys.
Qui cum se respexisset vidit eos et maledixit eis in nomine Domini egressique sunt duo ursi de saltu et laceraverunt ex eis quadraginta duos pueros
Cursed them... This curse, which was followed by so visible a judgment of God, was not the effect of passion, or of a desire of revenging himself; but of zeal for religion, which was insulted by these boys, in the person of the prophet; and of a divine inspiration: God punishing in this manner the inhabitants of Bethel, (the chief seat of the calf worship), who had trained up their children in a prejudice against the true religion and its ministers.

Here is one of my favorites.  I am sure you know the original.  :snork_lach:

Make a joyful noise unto the world all ye lands.
Tell the truth with gladness and singing.
Know ye that Reason is great.
It is that which guides us to be good.
Nature hath made us; we are its people.
Enter into life with thanksgiving: praise all who help you.
For life is good, yet not everlasting;
But truth will endure to all generations.

I am going to be brave and show you what I look like making a joyful noise with my friends.
One friend is playing the bass viol and one is on the drums.
I am the saxy one.  Posted Image

Look what I found regarding the translation of Genesis 1:1

http://www.personal..../wrp/gen01.html

So one of the possible translations is actually--

"In the beginning the gods cut the skies from the deep."

That says a lot, doesn't it?

Well this somes things up quite nicely:

Genesis 5:8
Altogether, Seth lived 912 years, and then he died.

(seeing my name is Seth it just sounds weird to me especially)....

And my personal favorite is

Exodus 22:19
"Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal must be put to death.

I went out with a stripper named Tiffany once and she was an animal. Does that count? :snork_lach:

Quite possibly.... but I belive the laws have changed since then the actually laws are as posted in state to state here:

http://www.totse.com...l/beastlaw.html

(just in case anybody in the whole word actually wanted to know what the laws are on bestiality.)  [smilie=spank.gif]

My favorite is in the UK its life imprisonment, and my favorite state is Louisiana with a: $2,000 fine and/or 5 years with or without hard labor.

Titus 1:12

One of themselves, [even] a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians [are] alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

Here's another one that's kind of funny, since, if Cretians are always liars, then this one is too, and so his statement is a lie, but, if his statement is a lie, then Cretians aren't always liars, and so he's telling the truth. But if he's telling the truth...

Here's something for your Bible study, lady. I posted this on another forum a couple of years ago and forgot all about it, but I just ran across it, so here it is:
[note: I'd post the verses as they're written in the KJV, but I don't have much time now. I can do it tomorrow, if you like.]

What the Christian God is really like!

Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel' date=' Behold, I [am'] bringing [such] evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

Wow, that must be a lot of evil, if both his ears tingle!
