Not everything is rosy in the ‘faith school’ garden
Those determined to continue the expansion of the influence of religion in schools often tell us that “faith schools” perform better because of their “religious ethos”. They always somehow manage to forget about those “faith schools” schools that don’t quite come up to scratch – and there are a surprising number of them.

Latest to come to light is Unity College, a Church of England secondary in Northampton that has been given a second Notice to Improve by OFSTED inspectors because it is still not providing an adequate education for its students.

Eighteen months ago, the school narrowly avoided being put into special measures. Inspectors said the school did not reach its realistic targets in 2006 and many students underachieved because the teaching was not good enough. It concluded achievements and standards were inadequate overall.
http://feeds.feedbur...9895/31600.html
